Discussion:

Winslow elliptic smoothing (Knupp, 98) is based on solving Laplaces equation with the independent and dependent variables interchanged. The method is widely used in conjunction with the mapping and submapping methods to give smooth meshes with positive Jacobians, even on non-convex two-dimensional regions. The method has been extended in Coreform Cubit to work on unstructured meshes.
