Coreform to present at IGA 2018

Coreform LLC is developing cutting-edge simulation technology to enable more accurate simulations, directly on CAD geometry. We are building our commercial software on an impressive and ever-growing body of published research in the field of isogeometric analysis (IGA). IGA is now one of the fastest growing research fields in finite element analysis. From the introduction of IGA in 2005 until May 31, 2018, the total number of IGA citations is now 30,423, with 8,110 citations in 2017 alone (source: Web of Science). The largest IGA conference of the year will take place October 10-12, 2018 in Austin, Texas.

Though heavily focused on research, this year the conference will feature for the first time an industry track. Leading CAE software codes like LSTC are commercially supporting IGA in their software, and preprocessors such as ANSA and Elysium are likewise supporting IGA elements. Startups like Coreform have formed to help drive commercialization and adoption. Commercial manufacturing and engineering companies are running IGA benchmarks with promising initial results.

Progress is continuing to be made across the board on the research frontiers of this field. A full slate of minisymposia has been organized at this conference. The latest results will be shared on topics such as computational efficiency, collocation, unstructured spline technologies, phase-field modeling, industrial applications, boundary elements, fluid and fluid-structure interaction, solids and structures, local refinement and adaptivity, contact and coupled problems, analysis-aware CAGD, analysis on trimmed surfaces, cut-cell and finite cell methods, and optimization.

Coreform co-founder Dr. Tom Hughes is conference chair at this event. A number of presentations will be given by members of the Coreform team. If you are currently investigating IGA from either a commercial or academic perspective, this is the most valuable conference to attend to get up to speed on the state of the art.

Early registration ends on August 31. Sign up at the IGA 2018 conference website. We hope to see you there!
